HEALTH and SAFETY RULES

Visitor Conduct

  • Please respect other visitors to the Park.
  • Do not feed animals other than the food provided by Park staff/volunteers. This includes the ducks. All of our animals have special diets and are fed at regular times.
  • Always stay behind the safety barriers. Under no circumstances should anyone try to enter an enclosure or put hands or fingers into enclosures. Even animals that do not appear dangerous can cause serious injury.
  • If possible move around the Park in small groups. Animals tend to back away from large noisy groups they feel intimidated by.
  • Please use pathways or roads - not gardens to access another area of the Park.
  • One adult supervisor is required per 10 children at Orana Wildlife Park .
  • Orana Wildlife Park is a litter free zone. Please use the litter bins provided.
  • Remember the Park is the animal's home. Please treat them with respect.
  • There are to be no practical jokes or high jinks as practical jokes can go wrong and this could have very serious consequences.
  • Do not touch Park plant or machinery. There could be a serious accident.
Health and Safety
  • For your own safety and the safety of others please follow the instructions of Park staff in the unlikely case of an emergency.
  • Report any accident, injury, incident or near miss and/or damage immediately to a park staff member or volunteer.
  • A little scratch can become infected very easily in the Park environment so please see that it is cleaned and treated accordingly by a Park staff member or volunteer.
  • Orana Wildlife Park operates comprehensive health and safety systems. While every effort is made to uphold a high level of safety any injury which occurs due to careless behaviour or failure to follow Park staff/volunteer instructions is at your own risk.
General
  • Dogs or any other animals are not allowed on site.
  • Safari Shuttles have right of way over all other traffic.
  • If you do happen to drive in the Park the maximum speed is 15 Km/h
