When can we come?
The programme will run each year in Terms 2 and 3. Sessions are provided subject to availability of our teaching staff - please enquire early to ensure your school's participation, especially for large bookings.
Who is eligible?
All year 0-13 students of decile 1-3 state, registered or integrated schools in the Christchurch, West Coast, Ashburton and Timaru Ministry of Education regions are eligible. One free adult for every 5 students is permitted and any additional adults will be required to pay normal Zoo School admission rates. The number of students who can attend from your school is dependent on the funds raised by The Warehouse’s annual “Add a Dollar” campaign. This is not contestable funding – the money raised will be divided amongst all eligible schools on a per-student basis. This is intended to allow you to build this visit into your learning programmes each year and aims to cater to all students over a three-year period.
What is expected of teachers and students?
To ensure students get the most from their visit to the Park, we want your visit integrated into classroom learning. Tell us what your theme/topic/big idea/enduring understandings are, and let us custom write a programme to support that learning during your visit. After your visit please tell us the story of YOUR experience – we want to know what you enjoyed and what your students’ learned!
How do we book?
Send us an email at zoofari@oranawildlifepark.co.nz to express your interest. Please specify “The Warehouse Zoofari” in the subject field and suggest some suitable dates in Term 2 or Term 3. Then we can let you know exactly how many students we can fund and confirm dates.
Why is The Warehouse School Zoofari free to eligible schools?
Your free visit is possible thanks to the generous support of The Warehouse stores in Christchurch, West Coast, Ashburton and Timaru through The Warehouse’s annual “Add a Dollar” fundraising campaign. The Warehouse shares Orana Wildlife Park’s vision for a broad reaching programme where every child can connect with, and be inspired to care for their community and environment.
