Whio (Blue Duck)

Hymenolaimus malacorhynchos

Fun Facts:

They are the white water specialists of the duck world, as they are one of only four waterfowl species to live permanently on fast-flowing, white-water rivers.

Their soft, rubber like ‘lips’ at the end of their bill acts as a bumper against rocks while foraging.
