We’ve been blown away by National Geographic’s The Greatest Wildlife Photographs. This summer, we’re inviting YOU to capture the wild side of life in our brand-new photo competition, Summer Snaps

From bees buzzing in your backyard to seals lounging on the coastline, albatross gliding across the waves, or kea perched high in the mountains. If it’s wildlife, we want to see it!

What are you waiting for?! Grab your camera and get snapping this summer.


The Essentials:
  • Photos must be taken between 20 Dec 2025 and 28 Feb 2026.
 
  • We encourage the use of mobile phones to capture your image, there is no 

    expectation they must be taken using professional camera equipment.

 
  • Categories – Y1: Youth Junior (under 11yrs), Y2: Youth (11-15yrs), Y3: Youth Senior (16-18yrs) and A: Adult (18yrs +).
 
  • There are four Orana Wildlife Park Family Passes up for grabs, one for each category.
 
  • The image/s must relate to the category ‘Wildlife in New Zealand’ and be taken during the period of 20th December 2025 to 28th February 2026. The focus of each image must be non-human wildlife. Accepted image subjects include: native birdlife, invertebrates, reptiles, wildlife in urban or natural settings etc.
 
  • Judging criteria will include creativity, composition, and relevance to the theme.

How To Enter
  • Read the full TERMS AND CONDITIONS - By submitting an entry you agree to the Terms & Conditions of this competition.
 
  • Head out into nature, and get snapping. Please respect the wildlife and ensure you keep a safe distance.

  • Select your best photo/s (up to five) and save them in the following format:
    Entrants first & last name + Picture name + picture category  
    e.g. 
    If your name is Sam Smith with a picture named Otter Climb and you are 11 years old the image file name would be – ‘SamSmithOtterClimbY2.jpg’.

  • Please ensure images are no larger than 2mb and saved as a jpeg or png.
