Meet Orana’s fluffiest and most charismatic residents, the black and white ruffed lemurs. During this experience, you’ll venture on to the lemur island to come face-to-face with these striking primates and even help feed them their morning snack!

Guided by our expert keepers, you’ll discover fascinating insights into their behaviour, learn about their conservation status, and what makes these endangered animals so extraordinary.

With only 4 people per session, this encounter offers a rare chance to connect with lemurs in a natural island setting, a truly unforgettable moment for animal lovers of all ages.

 Conditions of the Lemur Close Encounter

• Encounter operates at 11:00am on Friday and Saturday. Bookings open 30 days in advance.
• 4 tickets are available each day the encounter operates.
• The cost of the encounter is in addition to Park admission.
• Minimum age is 8 years (children 8-15yrs must be accompanied by a paying adult).
• Participants must not have flu-like symptoms or a cold (eg. coughing, sore throat, runny nose or other associated symptoms). Participants exhibiting these symptoms will be unable to participate due to the risk of spreading illnesses to our lemurs. 
• Please advise us beforehand of anything that may influence your participation in this encounter. 
• Due to the location of this encounter, all participants must be able to walk unassisted, unfortunately this encounter is not wheelchair accessible. 
• Closed footwear must be worn in the interest of participant safety.

• Participants will be asked to use hand sanitizer and wear gloves to minimize health risk of contact with lemurs

• No personal items are permitted into the encounter enclosure, except mobile phones. In the interest of safety, mobile phones must be handed to the staff member conducting the encounter before sitting down, they will take group photos. No SLRs or large cameras are permitted, due to their size.
